E Depois da Dança
Popular dance accompanied me from an early age. Training in traditional dances at the Dance School of the National Conservatory led to the creation of a strong relationship with their movements and structures through the experience of repertoire from various regions of the country. Thus, the invitation made by the management of Lugar Presente to participate in this project dedicated to folklore and to create a play for the students of the last year of the school, based on this rich and fundamental subject that contains in itself unique traits of our cultural roots as a society , immediately welcomed my interest.
The human side of dance is something that always excites me to work with. So, I wanted to bring traditional dance to this piece as, essentially, a meeting place for “people”, raw material which associated with the original music of Artur Fernandes, sustain and creatively influence this work, a result of the observation of the dances of the various partner folk groups, as well as their own intrinsic language in their dimension and social interception. A choreography that aims not only to the creation based on a popular language as inspiration, but also the whole intricate of its human relations in different dimensions ... The human relations that are generated not only in those spaces of the folkloric ranches, but also between the artistic team and between the team and the object that was working.
Dance, as an abstract language, contains, in fact, a whole communication potential that makes the relationship between us human beings special and immaterial.
