Na sua 6.ª edição, o Festival LUGAR FUTURO regressará em 2026 para promover jovens artistas, tanto através das estreias de novas peças de dança de coreógrafos nacionais e estrangeiros, como da apresentação de primeiras obras de coreógrafos emergentes, num programa dividido entre o Teatro Viriato, o Auditório do IPDJ e o espaço Lugar Presente, com o apoio financeiro da Câmara Municipal de Viseu e da Direção Geral das Artes.
O programa de quatro dias, dirigido por Leonor Keil, consistirá em espetáculos, filmes, masterclasses e debates com o público, com o objetivo de promover o intercâmbio de experiências entre os jovens coreógrafos e bailarinos participantes, acompanhados por alunos e professores de escolas de dança nacionais e estrangeiras, num ambiente de intercâmbio ao vivo com o público na cidade de Viseu e também em todo o mundo através de transmissão ao vivo.
Um dos destaques do programa deste ano é a apresentação de um conjunto selecionado de obras de dança, a que chamamos «primeiras obras». Uma seleção cuidadosa de seis peças de jovens coreógrafos oriundos da Alemanha, Canadá, E.U.A., França, Itália e Holanda, escolhidas entre centenas de candidaturas de dezenas de países, que como habitualmente promete surpreender pela diversidade, qualidade e frescura das suas propostas.
Para esta edição, o festival continua a colaborar com o festival de vídeo-dança InShadow, apresentando uma seleção de curtas-metragens premiadas em 2025, assim como uma sessão de cinema de animação para público escolar.
A parceria com a Escola Superior de Dança também se repete, apresentando o trabalho dos alunos do curso de Licenciatura em Dança. Além disso, este ano haverá parcerias com o Conservatório de Dança do Vale do Sousa (Paredes) e com o Conservatório de Dança Floria Capsali (Bucareste), que atuarão em Viseu pela primeira vez.
O festival Lugar Futuro volta a afirmar-se como uma plataforma dinâmica de contacto internacional entre o mundo profissional e o ensino da dança, reunindo jovens artistas e coreógrafos de renome com o objetivo de sensibilizar o público para a dança contemporânea.

On its 6th edition, the LUGAR FUTURO Festival will return in 2026 to promote young artists, both through the premieres of new dance pieces by national and foreign choreographers and the presentation of first works by emerging choreographers, in a program divided between the Teatro Viriato, the IPDJ Auditorium and the Lugar Presente space, with the financial support of the Municipality of Viseu and the Direção Geral das Artes.
The four-day program, directed by Leonor Keil, will consist of performances, films, masterclasses and discussions with the public,
with the aim of exchanging experiences between the participating young choreographers and dancers, joined by students and teachers from national and foreign dance schools, in an environment of live exchange with the public in the city of Viseu and also around the world via live streaming.
One of the highlights of this year’s program is the presentation of a selected set of dance works, which we call ‘first works’. A careful selection of six pieces by young choreographers, chosen from a pool of hundreds of applications from dozens of countries, that as usual promises to surprise with the diversity, quality and freshness of its proposals.
For this edition, the festival once again collaborates with the InShadow video-dance festival, presents a selection of short films that have won awards in 2025.
The partnership with the Escola Superior de Dança will also be repeated, presenting the work of students from the Dance Degree. In addition, this year there will be partnerships with the Conservatório de Dança de Paredes and with the Bucarest Dance Conservatory, which will perform in Viseu for the first time.
